Handle: The handle (Tsuka) of the sword is wooden covered in a real shark skin wrap. The shark skin is then wrapped in a black silk wrap. And two subminiature golden Menuki are rested on each side of the Tsuka. The tang of the sword is secured by two pegs (mekugi). The handle ends with a copper end cap (fuchi-kashira).

Saya: The saya is hard wood, lacquered black with a high gloss finish. The Koiguchi (scabbard throat) is black bull horn. A black silk sage-o is tied around the wooden Kurigata.
